ABOUT MASSAGE THERAPY
Massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction. Massage therapy helps to alleviate soft tissue discomfort, occupational stresses, as well as repetitive strain injuries and chronic pain syndromes. Treatment has a therapeutic effect to improve and maintain health by acting directly on the muscular, nervous, lymphatic and circulatory systems. In addition, research studies have shown massage therapy to have a positive effect on the immune system, pain perception, psychological state and respiratory function. Massage therapy is also extremely effective when used as part of a preventive care programme. ABOUT ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is one of the therapeutic methods used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and has a history that can be traced back at least 2500 years. It contributes significantly to the treatment of illness, injury and disease and is an important aspect of preventative care and in the maintenance of good health.
Acupuncture is a technique in which fine needles are inserted at specific points on the body to stimulate, disperse and balance the flow of energy, relieve pain and treat a variety of chronic, acute and degenerative conditions. It is noted for its extensive applications, significant curative effects and absence of side effects.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recognized the importance of traditional medicine and adopted it in WHO's working plan at the 29th World Congress in 1976. In the following years, member countries have been asked to study, develop and utilize traditional medicine according to their specific conditions. The goal is to reduce medical expenses for the realization of "health for all". WHO has published a series of booklets on the scientific, safe and effective use of acupuncture, moxibustion and herbs.
Acupuncture is now practiced in over 100 countries. It is an important component of world medicine and plays a key role in health care.
